northwest ohio | we are in northwest Ohio, our best crops for 3 years running have been planted after May 10th. Got stupid last year and planted April 16th, field made 70bu/a, one planted April 20th made 100, one planted last day of April made 166.Didn't plant any more until mid May all made over 150. When you plant early and then it gets cold rains or just gets cold it does affect the yield. Another benefit of waiting until in May, a lot less weeds pressure ( more weeds have started to germ) and less bug troubles. | |
