If you look at a picture of a very early automobile you will see that natural rubber is white,and only after they started to add carbon black to the rubber did they become black. That much carbon in tire rubber makes it a resistor instead of an insulator,so when exposed to multi KVolts, it heats up and burns holes in the tire quickly. |
