I would lean to the Kuhn v-rake.  I sold them and used them.  They are nice rakes.  On the SR models you can lock the left side up and only use the right side or drop both and use both of them.  I know guys that traded John Deere, Vermer, and H&S v-rakes in for a Kunh rake.  I had some guys say they now enjoy raking hay because of the Kuhn rake.  It has a high clearance to it so when you finish in the middle of the field you will not drag your windrower out with you.  And yes it is heavy built.
