West Central Iowa | Recently I bought a single rotary rake because I heard good things about them in regards to drying alfalfa hay. Didn't want to spend the "big" bucks on a center delivery dual rotary. After I used the single I liked it so much that I started looking around and was able to find a Kuhn 7301 for under $9000. It needed a few days of work to go through and make sure all the adjustment were free and everything was tight as it should be. LOVE the job it does on alfalfa grass mix hay. Doesn't drag dirt into the windrow, doesn't rope wet hay from the bottom side of the windrows I put together, and believe I can get baling 3-4 hours sooner than a comparable width wheel rake (or at least there are no wet "roped" spots even if I start baling at the same time).
There is nothing I hate more than trying to make a decision around 8:00 AM the day the hay needs baled and there is a chance of an afternoon rain. This rake makes me more comfortable knowing the hay will be evenly dried and ready to bale just after lunch. | |
