Thanks for the post.  I agree - never electrify a barb wire.

I see a big difference in the galvanizing job on barb, hi tensile and brace wire these days. Some of it rusts shortly after installation. Guess where a lot of that stuff comes from - imported. Buy good wire, not cheap wire. The cost difference is insignificant compared to having to replace it in ten years.
