I don't think being on tires is a guarntee that lightning will or will not strike an object. A few years ago, a lady was driving on a major highway when the car was struck by lightning. The strike took out all of the computer devices in the car, welded the ignition key to the socket, but the lady was unharmed, except that it scared the ... out of her!
