| Thanks for the many good ideas. I plan to have a hen yard much as you described, an open fabric-covered area for winter, separating the laying poultry from meat birds by a fence. So far I have only gotten up to 55 birds or so and grain is getting so expensive that I won't go any larger until I can produce my own. I use oyster shell for calcium because its fairly cheap here on the Atlantic coast. An automatic egg system sounds interesting. Would like to see some pics of your system when you do it. You have snow in SW France? | |
