| for semis form 2290 needs to be filed soon. I have an older 1971 that I tag for 50,000 now. I used to have it at 80,000 pounds and paid the 550 dollars. for under 55000 no 2290 is needed. but the irs keeps sending me a form.. they have a checkbox for when you get rid of the truck or it is no longer in service. and name of person sold too. that is not the case . since I no longer need to pay the tax how do you fill the form out without lying , it is used over 5000 miles . I can't check the box for under 5000 miles without being dishonest.
Do I have to send them a personal letter explaining I still have the truck but it is no longer over 55000 and to quit sending me any more stuff? Ignore the letter since it don't apply?
