Subject: Re: 3 on the tree

Faunsdale, AL
Learned to shift one in a 70 F100 at about 12 years old. By the time I drove it much, the shifter would sometimes fall out of the collar on the column and be lost on the floor when you needed to shift. It was easier just to take it out and lay it on the seat so you would know where it was! We bought an old BE22-B dragline to use on some farm drainage projects about that time. When it finally quit moving because the tracks and sprockets were shot, it was about 5 miles from the shop and about 3 miles from the county road in a bed of poison ivy. I don't know how I survived the poison ivy, but I sure put a lot of miles on that truck runnning back and forth for tools.

It was easier for me to drive a 4 speed than the 3 speed to start with, but once you learn on anything, you catch on quick on everything else.
