Subject: RE: Pixall snapping rolls

Gresham, Nebraska
Our '95 Pixall DB18 seed corn harvester had them - basically a JD corn head with rubber gathering chains and hydraulically adjustable stripper plates. The snapping rolls performed similarly to a CIH knife roll but the JD gearbox design and no front supporting bearings on the snapping rolls offered us plenty of grief and downtime. I would think JD has improved on this design since then. The lifetime of the Pixall rolls were not any greater than other types.

Did you get any rain last night/this morning? .5" to .75" between York and Columbus.
