| 7000 is a good planter. But it won't wear forever, though all the wear parts are replaceable from several vendors including Deere. Check for gauge wheel arm wobble, and tail piece wobble. Check for rusted sprockets and stiff hex shaft bearings. Finger units need going through occasionally and unknowns need to be checked on a test jig before use. A 7000 that's not worn out will bring more money at an auction than one with floppy gauge wheels and tail piece. Kinze bean units are far superior to the vintage Deere bean cups.
A 7100 is the same planter with a three point hitch bar instead of pull behind. The row units are exactly the same, use all the same Deere parts.
RK produsts has some of the best aftermarket parts for gauge wheels and tail pieces. Shoup and Sloan Express also have their own brands.
