Subject: proper way to weld auger flighting to shaft

West Central Wisconsin

I am building a cross auger for my strip till bar. I ordered flighting from shoup. The center hole is supposed to fit a 1" shaft but it is pretty loose. Should I use a larger shaft? what is the proper technique to weld the auger flighting?
