S.E. Iowa
It would be near impossible to break up the US. The dependence of one part on the other parts for fuel electricity food and so forth makes it impossible for such a thing to happen. In the civil war period city areas were pretty much supported by surrounding areas . Today goods and services may come from 2000 miles away. The companies running them are national not local. Civil war the members of the military felt alligence to the states they were from, little or no such feeling exsist today. Lets take Hawaii since thats your home. In the event of a break away besides the military bases, all I have to do is blockade fuel and food shipments, since electricty in Hawaii doesnt come from nuclear power I doubt the islands would have basic services after 60 days. same thing with most all the states.
