northwest tennessee | Rich see if this makes any sense. Now this was before the report came out friday so things have changed some. The are alot of cattle on feed and thus the cattle numbers are up but they are all in the feedlots. I am getting this from two big buyers here and one is really big. All the calves in this area and all through the south were sold back in the summer because of no grass. I hear there are very few on wheat because of the price of wheat. Lots of cows were sold and heifers were sold too here and in the South. They are saying that in March when the feedlots start cleaning out they are going to start to see there are not nearly as many cattle as the report shows. And thus bid higher for them. I also know that if corn gets high enough that they may not even want them too. That is why things have changed. I guess what I am trying to say is the report is showing lots of cattle but really there are very few out in the country. They are all in the feedlot. One more thing are we exporting more beef now that the dollar is low? It should be a good buy just like the grain is. | |
