JJ, I know you guys are making organics work, as are many in our area.  Part of what I see as hurting "organics" more than anything is the misinformation that I see spread in threads like this by guys such as Chimel, hyseed, and AJ.  I don't like terms like "drinking the kool-aid", "looking through rose colored glasses" and such but those terms are far too nice.

This idea I read here from time to time about there not being chemical residue in "manure" cannot have been seriously considered.  Composting is a different story.  A thread a while back mentioned livestock do not have exposure to glyphosate.  Is not glyphosate used on rr alfalfa, corn stalks and straw (amazingly never coming in contact with the grain); and are not these used as feed ingredients.  And now I read that the animal filters out all the bad chemicals which hurt people but not the good chemicals that make the manure good fertilizer.  And what about chemicals on that which is used as bedding?  Is not the bedding spread with the manure?  Somehow we believe chemical companies are evil and the organic industry tells only the truth; we believe what we want to believe and usually that is what best lines our pocket.

I believe organics has a place; I've considered it.  I bought vinegar to wick rye out of wheat a few years ago and the only place I had rye kill was where I stopped and had drips and leakage, killing everything.  The advertised rates simply did not work and set me back on rye control.  Last year organic wheat with rye was bringing more than regular wheat but I'm not ready to make the jump.

I've seen dead rodents as an acceptable part of "organics"; I see guys who would lie to their own mother making it big in organics.  Those things others all have to be considered when thinking of buying organic; not all of the negative are "opinion".

Yes, it is bad to trash to the method because it can be done right.  People should take you up on your offer.  Eliminating the negative facts is the best way to create a positive opinion.  Spreading the BS by others elsewhere in this thread only adds to the flames against a naive and misinformed public, and apparently some growers.  We all need to tell the consumer the truth.  Life is not without risk.

Someone on here has a quote about the truth of what we read on the internet, with credit for the quote going to Abe Lincoln.  It is surprising what some on each side of the argument expect us to believe.
