Tomram I will go head to head with any of my neighbors. notil or other on soil loss. My land is sleeping right now underneath a cover of something. I have never had to combine corn perpendicular to the rows because I couldnt cross the washouts! In the future whose land will be more prductive? Mine with an increasing organic matter or the wornout eroded soil just across the road? I know there are waterway farmers every where, here, I know nothing about the dust blowing off the field like you are talking about we just dont have that.

Are you practicing no till?

A winter cover is great. But there can be a lot of erosion during the growing season. Tillage produces a fair bit of erosion too.

Comparing organic to another field that is obviously being neglected isn't a fair comparison ("worn out eroded soil").
