That doesn't make sense and it brings up questions about the integrity of the whole "organic" deal which is apparently faith based with no testing to back anything
Several USDA regulations for organic farming do not make sense indeed and are way too tolerant, intended for intensive organic monocultures similar to conventional farming. It does not mean organic farming does not make sense, only the USDA and these farmers. It would be interesting to know how many organic farmers stick to the organic farming mentality. My guess is that most big farmers that supply the organic produce in supermarkets in large quantity daily are not much better than conventional.

There is NOTHING on the market that is based on Agent Orange or DDT.
There's 2,4-D for Agent Orange, which is banned in many countries but still approved in the U.S.
I don't know about chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticides or persistent organic pollutants similar to DDT for agriculture, but some are still used on kids for lice, such as lindane, which was indeed banned for agriculture just a few years ago.
Most of them are either banned or getting banned or limited to specific uses such as malaria prevention, but the list is quite long, I wouldn't be surprised if at least a few of those below were still in use. After all, even though DDT was banned, the U.S. still continued to produce it for years to keep making profit while poisoning third world countries. These guys are no angels and stop at nothing until public pressure is stronger than their lobbies on the government. I don't know why anybody who does not work in the pesticide industry (and even so) would even try to defend them. Even today, their products still need to be considered critically and not accepted upon faith: The situation hasn't changed, they are still motivated by making money, not the good of farmers or plants or the human species. Nothing wrong with making money, with a minimum of morality and regulations to prevent anarchy.

Feel free to check the current status for each of them.
