Eastern ND | People just don't learn. I remember about 12 yrs ago when hogs went from near $40 down to $10 in a matter of weeks. Everybody that raised them around me sold cheap to locals to butcher. Then about 4 mos. later they were back up to $50. But by then they were out of the hog business. Short term low price shakes out products, then there is a shortage and price rebounds. Cattle guys who stay with their normal marketing will see great rewards in the future. It is just a cycle and some producers just get shaken out. Just like some corn growers in past years. | |
