Kansas | Local salebarn had 400 killer cows on Tuesday when they normally run about 40 head through.
Noone and I mean Noone in this area is short of hay of any kinds this year. There is all sorts of stuble to still be grazed and I can't believe that many head were pregged and open and became a drastic increase compared to last year at this time.
When grains opened up and went through the roof this morning, I watched the feeders and fats both go down. What I'm seeing on my chart tonite is Jan feeders lost 2 and a quarter and Feb live lost 1.85
Now, Imagine corn going up another buck. Harvest ended for me in November. That's not even been 3 months. March is not even 3 months away.
I want to make one thing clear. I am not an expert. No way, No how. Not even slightly. You take all I say with a grain of salt because this is merely my nonexistant crystal ball prediction I think but...........but..............Soybeans have gone up and as much double stack and triple stack corn as I was hearing about, that is going to bring rotation relief to some guys now that beans are higher. Gonna drop the corn acres for the report due in Feb for projected acres to be planted. Corn price will go higher again and well pal, You, me and every other beef man that has hoof to move to the salebarn will have to bring our own jar of vaseline. I'm not gonna be surprised to see feeders get close to 90 cents and live cattle lower 80's. AND........AND..........especially if the inflation keeps at it like it's been.
Merely my thoughts. Worth less than it cost you to get to this reading. In no way do I advocate someone taking this to heart.................but it's just my thoughts.
If I miss, I won't leave like AgTrader did and you can give me hell.... *GRIN*. Matter of factly, I hope the cattle market does turn around and you have a reason to give me hell. It's been good for some time though. Seems like to me like it's about cycle time to go down and clean out all the hobby ranches and small frys.
I am curious as to what you see coming in the near future. I won't chastise you for a different outlook. I'm curious what your thoughts are.
