I applaud anyone that can make it work. The issues I see with organic is that you must:
1). Rotate crops extensively, the old 5 year: Corn/Beans/Oats/Alfalfa/Alfalfa rotation
2). Weed control is the biggest issue, the moldboard plow was the best thing for starting off to manage a clean field. And it will take multiple passes with rotary harrow or some kind of small weeder, and then you will have to probably cultivate.
3). Fertility will also be an issue, but you have to deal with the weeds before fertility is your most limiting factor and have a good clean source of manure.

You have to believe in it before it will work. The best farmers years ago knew how to control weeds. Today Roundup Ready crops have made that task relatively easy, and there are few people that understand the art of cultivating.
