Subject: Re: Going organic

I think organic is an option for farmers when they have a good market for the farm's products.

Saying that, I think organic is dumb because a lot of people have spent~50 years trying to get farmers in IA to not plow so much. With tillage the main weed control, the amount of soil that escapes the field has to be higher.

I spent a year watching an organic farmer near Lawrence, KS plow and plow. After every rain I saw quite a bit of soil leave the field. This farmer used tillage to control weeds and planted soybeans later than most farmers. Most farmers had crops in and up and therefore slowing erosion. This was mid 90's. I would think with the new no/low-technology that erosion would be less.

I think if a person is to go organic, they to be an agronomist pure and simple. You have to have a lot of knowledge about the crop and how to grow the crop without the use of fertilizers, sprays, etc.

Here are locations for information.

This is information on all of your competitors.
