Yes, the waste is bad; people are still starving so I don't see your point. There needs to be better distribution but that will still not solve the starvation issue.
I did a screen shot from your link which I found interesting. Yes the entire point of the video is to dramatize/emotionalize the issue and draw attention to the waste. I'm not sure whether "Equal to 3 million trucks stretched around the equator" is significately more or less than 3 million trucks anywhere else, but they may stay dryer elsewhere.
