Subject: Smoking meats


Today I dried to smoke some fish and jurky I have an electric smoker and set it at 225 temp as the book recommends I soaked my wood chips for 30 min. But never got any smoke the wood chip pan is right close to the heat element the meat cooked ok but the chips never produced any smoke .any ideas what is wrong?
