As a pure speculative trade you can either short the board (i.e. sell futures), sell calls or buy put options. Shorting the board and selling calls you will be required to margin your position if it goes against you (i.e. market goes higher) as with the purchase of a put you know the most you will be out upfront if the market goes against you, but with options you will not gain penny for penny as with futures. Either position is best to do when you think the market has peaked. Just my .02
