I agree 100% & used to have a lot of friends in agriculture, still have one, and do hope this is finally the era where producers can enjoy some disposable income beyond paying bills, debts and interest. Took a few moments on this trip to have dinner with an elderly attorney friend from the midwest...much older than I & he commented an 80 acre farm traded in his home town for $6,700 an acre a few weeks ago and was not all tillable and the soil was a touch sandy. It is my sincere hope that producers do not now embark on a buying spree bidding land prices out of sight and loading themselves again with a lot of debt--granted highly productive land is an excellent investment--but I come from an era when the ROI on land, even at much much cheaper prices, was a joke. The North American agricultural producer has produced low priced food for the consumers for well over a century. It is time for that to change, whether is will or not is the question.
