Ripley, Ontario Canada | I don't think the ethanol will blink anytime soon. With oil near $100 and mandated ethanol in gas, the demand is there, and they have the ability to pay, also the fuel market is likely able to pass the cost increase along faster, since it likely takes less time to get money out of a gallon of ethanol than out of a steer. In my part of the world the cattle/hog side is shrinking fast, esp the hogs. With many barns empty or going empty soon. While some of you in the U.S. have had good prices over the last few years for cattle, it has been a bloodbath up here since 03, and a lot of older producers are just getting out and likely won't be back. | |
