Southwest OK | About five years ago I de-wormed 500 head with a name brand pour on, and 500 head with a name brand injectible. These were 550 to 650 weight bulls from Alabama. At the time I was getting one load a week in, and one load would be worked with a pour on, the next would be injected. Not a scientific test, but good enough to make some assumptions. The injected calves averaged .08 lbs a day more through 45 days. The highest difference was .125 lbs a day injected. Only two loads of the poured calves beat the average of the injected calves. I know that there were other variables involved, but I am a firm believer in injecting my de-wormer. That said, any de-worming program is going to be better than nothing. I know that didn't answer your question about generic and name brands, I never tested those. After seeing the difference between injections and pour ons, I decided it wasn't worth risking gain to save a few cents a head.
