Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | That was my thought when drilling wheat in Sept./Oct. That new crop was going to be cheap. So I didn't increase acreage.
Another factor around here at least, was a LOT of acres went to corn in the spring and "here" we have a tough time double cropping wheat after corn. Gets too late and too dry. So there just wan't as many acres available to plant wheat this fall. Plus, most continous wheat does not yield as well. The name of the game now is bushels. You HAVE to grow the bushels. |
