| The first full week of 2013. How are we all doing? Are you still sluggish and having a hard time getting in the swing of things for the new year? I know some people start Jan 1st and are really dedicated and hit it hard and get great results. Others are slowly weaning themselves off the Christmas goodies. Sometimes hard to go cold turkey into a new eating season. Anyone trying to reduce their soda intake? If you are a big soda drinker, that can be a big benefit to you to cut that back. It has been on the news lately that anything with fructose makes your brain still think it is hungry. I believe that because last year when I was losing week after week for months I really avoided anything with sugar. I wasn't hungry. You do have to wean yourself off all the sugar whether it is in the soda you drink, or the cookies and candy we have been eating. Also, I have heard that even diet drinks with zero calories will keep you from losing, because the brain still thinks it is sugar. Nothing is easy and we need to keep working at this.
From another post someone was worried about joint problems. I for one know that one much too well. That is why it is so important for us to get the extra weight off to make it easier on our joints. Has the colder weather kept you inside more and you aren't getting in the exercise you need. Find something that will work for you.
OK, after all the good preaching here, how did Dave and I do on this first week of Jan. We both gained. What the hell is up with that. He blames switching some of his pain pills for ibuprofen. That can happen, my surgeon even told me that. Me, why did I gain. Went to my mom's too much and she has a candy dish there and I couldn't keep my little mitts out of it yet. I got rid of the sweet treats at my house but still ate at her house. Does anyone have someone that tries to sabotage your diet? Funny, how someone that supposedly loves you and wants you to lose weight, but yet they are right there offering you something that isn't good for you. Mom's are really good for that. "honey, you really need to lose weight, wanna piece of pie, or a cookie". We all have to learn to say no.
So will try another week here. I feel guilty with posting these posts when I am screwing up myself. I get tempted to not post as I don't want to admit that I am human and had a gain. But then again, if I stop posting I am afraid I will get too many weeks in a row of gains. Dec was hard on me and it is time to get my head in the game here. I know it will help when we are in AZ as I can be outside more, at least I hope it will help.
Have a great week everyone. | |
