Southern IL
Ed, the most positive results we have seen in soybeans are:
1. Big seed count soybean seed 2400 or less. Treated beans! Big beans make a bushel faster.
2. Good pre emerge chemical in fall or early spring
3. No till at 175,000 population in 15 inch rows or one pass with turbo till
4. Post application soon after planting 22 to 28 days powermax and warrant
5. Spraying Fungicides when you can see pods 5/16 inch long ,we used 20 gal water, Quadris 6 oz ,tombstone insecticide , re-enforce K foliar fertilizer 2 gal acre, manganese 1 pt acre, also we used twin tee jet nozzles which gave us good coverage.
We did not spray step 5 in 2012, we received a rain that helped the soybeans.
If you can record or map the fields, leave a check untreated area, this has been noticeable on
Our Apex maps of our fields. We have seen were the drift from the fungicide application has made yields go higher in an untreated area. This may not work for everyone but we have seen a boost, when we get adequate rain fall.
