chopping corn heads, super dooper flour grinding straw choppers, and a second trip with a field cultivator burn way more fuel and cause more headaches than a GOOD (that doesnt include JD 726's) soil finisher. with a GOOD soil finisher you can hook up to it in the spring and prepare a dandy seed bed in one pass in almost all conditions. the same cannot be said for field cultivators.
