"3) plant them earlier so they flower & make seed during less heat / drought stress time of year "

I want that too, but soybeans flower based on day length. Although planting them early does tend to make them flower a little earlier, planting a shorter season bean ultra early will result in earlier flowering by a few weeks. Is this the key??? I dont know. I know that some here are trying it, planting group 2.8 to 3.2 in an area where we would normally plant 3.3s to 4.4s or so. I dont know, I am so confused.
