Subject: RE: estate planning wills

central - east central Minnesota -

kggonzo - 1/2/2013 10:31 Please provide me with some direction. Can a person just type something up, and have it notarized and expect that to be valid? Or do you have to go to an attorney to have a will done? Is there a place it should be filed?

The other advice is good - lawyers are best in these case.
But, you can write up what you wish and bring with you. It'll cut down on time spent with attorney (savings)
Here, will and other legal documents get filed with the recorder / deeds in the county you live in, along with a copy in the attorneys office.
Go down to your county recorders office and take a look at all the "stuff" that is on file there under your name and names of those you know in that county.
Keep in mind, will become public knowledge - trusts and other obatracts can keep the public from knowing your personal buisness.
