don't really think modification is necessary, just buy two more front wheels for the rear.
Front tires on my polaris RZR are a 245-70R12 (actually off a sportsman 800 quad), which is only 10inches wide. Your issue would be getting the correct spacers needed to straddle, which can be calculated easily.
