PROSPECT, TENNESSEE | 2012 was one we will never forget(I think I say this every year)! We had a pretty good spring, though freeze got the corn with the most potential and dinged the wheat that was ahead of schedule. Planting went rather smooth, considering a "new to me" planter with a monitor with a ghost in it .The wheat still yielded 60 BPA or so. Weather was great while cutting wheat, we went start to finish without a sprinkle. The day we finished we got an inch of rain that evening, got to plant the double crop beans in moisture! That was the last rain for a long while. Had some beans die on some high spots, corn was tasseling and rolled up over half way of the stalk. Some how about the time I was about to let it get me down we would get a shower. Those somehow pulled off the best soybean crop I have ever had. I had soybean test plots with "stress reliever" snake oil on them, got to see where I had flushed some money over the years. All in all, I realized how resilient a soybean is, and how delicate corn is, and how quick a bad thing can turn good, and how quick a good thing can turn bad. So, I would rate this past growing season above average, on INCOME and STRESS!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE and GOOD LUCK NEXT YEAR! | |
