Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | Mine looks similar to yours. Throw in wheat ...2 years worth ...'07 averaged at $5.00 and most of '08 at $5.50. Yea, had I not sold anything I would have had the value of 2 crops but just raising one.
I'm still forward contracting but going at it a little slower. Sooner or later forward sales will be the smart thing but I doubt we'll make up what could have been. Stopped the multiyear sales for now but if a blow-off top occurs I'll do some. I think a big price increase will hurt demand. By big, I mean at least $16.00 beans, $7.00 corn, $14.00 wheat. |
