Tim, that is what I suspected. I have a kuhn and at first we messed with them but it was hard to tell if it made much difference. The best thing we did though was buy an extra knife that is at a 45 degree angle and welded it to the top of the auger. Really cuts the hay bale up quicker, probably cut the time in half.
