Subject: Re: JD 6430 Premium MFD

East Central Iowa
Pro's:
- good power (pulled 600 bu grain wagon in slight hills, but didn't set any speed records)
- good hydraulics, hitch, 3-point, etc.
- well balanced (we have the bigger tires with a little weight)
- sunroof window is handy - we use it more than we thought
- fairly quiet - when on auger running at 540 rpm the engine doesn't "scream" like on older tractors (this is without the economy PTO option)
- cab is very quiet
- is fast down the road (with auto-quad trans)
- I haven't noticed any real rough riding with its wheel-base (not as smooth as an 8 series, but that is to be expected)
- good trans (we have auto-quad) & reverser
- very versatile (can use as loader, on augers, do some light field work, pull wagons, etc.)

Con's:
- not the best cold-weather starting tractor if you don't have it plugged in
- visibility out the front to the loader bucket is not as great as we would like (perhaps due to the self-leveling arms on the loader - loader frame sits up a bit on the tractor compared to Deere's smaller series)
- rear wiper/washer are not standard equipment (need to add as option)
- may not turn quite as short as you prefer (if you are used to a smaller loader tractor) with MFWD
- a few too many warning messages on its screen (if you don't put reverser level in N when you shift into P; start PTO while not in seat, etc., not a problem just a little annoying)
- those little round lights on top of cab don't throw a lot of light if you work a lot at night
- electronic joystick is a little too close to the seat for my preference (mechanical joystick may have been better)
