North Central Illinois
I'm not really a bull right now but I just don't see any way we can plant 99 million acres of corn next year. We pulled out all of the stops last year and everything fell into place allowing us to plant about 96.5 million acres. That will be very hard to beat by more than .5 to 1 million acres. There looks to have been a hell of a lot of wheat planted this fall but of course that could be torn up in the spring and planted to corn if the insurance dollars point that way. I just can't see anywhere near 99 million acres with anything less than absolutely perfect spring conditions for the whole country. Then of course there is the seed corn part of the equation. I doubt we have enough quality seed for 99 million acres.
