Southwest OK | I'm not sure why you doubt my numbers. 280 acres at 10 $ acre divided by two as this is the second set to use that pasture this year equals $1400/126 hd=$11.11 for pasture rent. 5 oz of mineral and lick a day times $0.035 times 90 days =$15.30. 13 Saturdays times ten miles round trip to check is 130 miles at 8.7 mpg= 14.93 gal of unleaded times $3.03 divided by 126=$0.36 3 lbs of feed at 270 a ton (contracted earlier in the year) $0.405 times 13 feedings=$5.27 Grand total of $32.04 per head for 90 days. This is just a snapshot of a point in time when cost of ownership of these girls is very low. My cost of gain getting them to this point is much higher, and will be again when they are moved to calving grounds, but that is not the point. If you can find a flaw in my numbers or point out a cost associated with this particular pasture that I am missing, please do. | |
