Casey IL. ( I -70 ) then south on rt.49
So are you going to sell as good cows or send them to slaughter. I personly send to slaughter if they have a bad teat or old or not good enough to bring home.
You are right about people selling bad one's for good one's, Last yr I got one that had all teats bad but did not find out tell it was to late. I saw the calf sucking just did not realize he was not getting anything. I lost the calf and sold her as a pd. cow. did not want someone else to get her. First time I got caught in several yrs. Most of the time I talk to the sale barn manager to find out more and it will also help by setting down close ( floor if can ). I will buy 10 to 15 a yr. somtimes if the yr. is right and sell in the late spring. Lots of times you can pocket the cows money for profit. I wean calf first and by then cow will be breed back.
I try to buy before December and sell May. Would do more but thats all the room I have.
