I kind of agree with Rod. Something happened, or didn't happen, to this boy long before age 13. Where is the crucible of his relatives other than Mom who should help to shape his behavior along the way? I can remember being taken to task by aunts and uncles growing up. Something's not happening at home and then the teachers get blamed. Sometimes parents don't do their job as they should. My dad died when I was 2, and I have to hand it to my mom for keeping it together as well as she did all those years. My heart goes out most to single parents whose spouse has left and abdicated the role of child raising entirely to the other parent. That's a tough road no matter what.
HE IS MENTALLY ILL! He is sick. Parenting has little to do with it, they need professional help. Until you have handled someone like this you don't have a clue.
