West Salem, Illinois | I believe what you are pulling is called a CID'r, but I always thought that you had to give a Lutalyse shot when you pulled the CID'r. Something I would consider next time is to use one of those tail head heat detectors and put them on when you pull the CID'r, that way when another cow rides the animal(s) in question even if you are not around at the moment you have proof that the animal was indeed in standing heat.
With my small herd I mostly just watch for natural heats and breed off them. Where ever you get your semen from usually has calendars that they give out, now most every place has calendars, but I find these particularly handy because at the bottom of each day there is two other dates first is the next date the animal should be in heat and also the expected calving date. | |
