VT | I AI the Holstein heifers I raise. Just started to AI my beginning beef herd. I use lutylase and heat detect to make management easier. I keep the cows I have given shots to close to home so I don't have to walk so far to heat detect each day. I have gotten 65% on Holstein heifers and higher on Jersey and Angus so far. I took a course Genex hosted on a local farm. Well worth the cost. It is not very hard to learn. I do not want to keep a bull around as I use all leased land and there are a lot of kids in the neighborhood. | |
