Subject: Re: A solution to minimize school shootings

Around here, NJ schools are like Fort Knox, even the ones that are in farming communities. ALL doors are locked without anyone getting in unless buzzed in. Most have a police officer dedicated to the school and all after school events have cops. And if you think you are going to get away with something, think again. There are cameras everywhere. I imagine this tragic event will have many schools reexmaining their security and hopefully waking up those that think it won't happen in their backyard.

The one thing I don't agree with are active shooter drills (just like fire drills). It's not that I don't think having a plan is a good idea, but the schools plan is to basically lock all of the kids in the room they're in, shut the blinds, and hope for the best. I really don't have a better idea, but it seems the kids and staff are sitting ducks.
