In the heifer barn all the lights were off, the boxes in the centre of the ceiling with light coming down are the chimneys, I don't have roofs on them so they let a bit of daylight in. I guess that would be the cheapest fixtures you could install lol. In my milking barn I have T5 fluorescents, on at 5:30am, off at 10pm, during the day a sensor outside kills the lights whenever it is bright enough outside. That system works really well and most days unless it is really cloudy and gloomy the lights are off all day.
