SW Iowa | I'm concerned about moisture this winter also.
The ground isn't froze up yet, and a rain event is predicted for the weekend (1/2"), and any rain falling now will go right in and not run off. Too early to call. We can still have a wet spring, but it is sure dry now.
As far as $20 corn and $68 soys, that would be more catastrophic to the country and world than the approaching fiscal cliff. They will have Marines out here in the countryside this spring in Humvees making sure we get the corn/soys planted, and no farmer rests until done. There will not be a pasture or road ROW that is left natural grass, and not growing a no-tilled roundup ready corn or soy crop. | |
