Subject: Re: Bigham Brothers Strip-till

Lorenzo, tx
Ive heard of moore built but have never seen one in person. They werent really an option for us. I know orthman builds the bars for deere. At the time Orthman wasnt building a 16 40" bar that didn't have to fold forward the last two rows. That doesn't look like a good deal to me at all. Do they make a bar that wide? As far as I know 12 40" is as wide a bar as deere/orthman offers. As for the bars breaking I know the lift assist wheels can give problems. We have a neighbor who is extremely hard on equipment and there bar is fine. The gauge wheels lift assist wheels and some other stuff has been torn up multiple times but the bar is fine. If an orthman bar had been run by those same people would the wings still be on it? Im not trying to picking a fight Just saying that may not be the best comparison. Ive seen brand new strippers go to the field and thrash an engine with less than 50 hrs. That doesnt mean my stripper is junk. What caused those bars to fail? Was it bad welds or materials? Or was it operator error? like hitting a telephone pole? Im sure if it was welds or materials bigham brothers would be happy to replace it. They have been very good about replacing broke parts. Like the spindle on a lift assist wheel. I tried posting some pictures but the website is sucking tonight.
