eastern ontario | Hve raised many angus holstein crosses over the years and grew them up as fats and you could always pick them from other blacks in the yard. They don't sell well as bob calves and I never understood why. I agree with mid mn they will probably sell best at 300lbs and I know that is not what you wanted to here but welcome to the beef business. The worst is some holsteins will throw the odd grey coloured calve instead of black and no one likes them. We have went back to herford for our low end hard to bred cows. black baldies. When I was a kid my father bred all of our 60 milking holsteins herford and fed all the calves for six months on milk. Would be feeding 35 to 40 twice a day pailed milk and cleaned them out every day. man oh man I hated that. | |
