NW IOWA | And this is in the cool off season. No crop growing to use moisture. Cooler temps so less evaporation.
No creeks or streams running. No tile lines running even the big county ones are bone dry.
Moisture situation way worse this year than last year at this time. Long time till planting time but very concerning situation.
Ja, ja, and ja!!!
I like that ja stuff!!

Red River Valley | We might be lucky to have gone into winter dry.
These storms can carry a lot of precipt with them. and can repete every 4-5 days usually they don't get started until Jan thaw period but might keep us warm and wet this winter??

Buxton ND | Tara been thinkin the same thing on those Cally storms. I used to rent a 1/4 from a guy that had a sister in California, she'd always tell him don't worry about a drought its raining in California and you'll get rain 3-4-5 months later but I cant remember the timing for sure.....
The BUZZ word in Ag seems to be the drought of 2013,,,, but whats gonna happen if we get it planted early,,,start getting rains,,, and we could answer John McGillicuddy question of whens the 15 bb corn crop coming really fast...... |
| |

| You are seriously too funny. |
| |
WC MN | So anything less than saying we will have back to back droughts is funny? Why are you so one sided? |
| |
Buxton ND | Rab that was a question from John McGillicuddy at a meeting a was at in Fargo ND of Tuesday.Another thing he said the corn belt has never had back to back drought 2years in a row.
As to why Rab is so one sided,,, I'd put a case of beer his bins are pretty full !!!!! And judging where he's at he had way more corn and beans then thought in August.

South central Minnesota | Yup the moisture tracks right through the heart of the corn belt, well if northern US, Canada border is now the heart! LOL ! |
| |
WC MN | Right on Sat. Heard same comments from McGillicuddy. Don't mean it will happen......but theres a chance |
| |

| No because I don't believe $4 corn is just around the corner like I have been told here since 2008. Bins are not full, have plenty of corn and beans, passed on 8.22 Tuesday. Still comfortable here. Corn was actually 4 bushel across the board less than my August 12th estimate, never had a clue on beans. But go ahead and tell me once again what I raised because I'm from IL where it's always awesome, wouldn't be the first ones on here to do that. |

Buxton ND | In general Rab many yields where better then expected in much of the corn belt. I'm actually on a roll on my farm 2 years running over 150 bu corn,2 year running with NO Crop Ins. claims on ANY crop. You know its bad when you see your Crop Ins. Adjuster so often you feel the need to buy him a Christmas present !!!!! |
| |

| Better than expected of 20 bpa doesn't add much to the bottom line. I still do not think the corn crop is there that we are being told. Some good areas I understand, a hell of alot of disked down, mowed off at 7 mph with a corn head 0-100 bushel junk also. It's a long time till combines roll even in Texas, there will be demand for our corn. MO |
| |

| It also does not take 2 years of back to back drought to cause problems, maybe 2 years of less than projected. Do I hear 3??? 15 b corn crop can it happen, sure. I'll bet alot more that we don't see it than that case of beer SAT is going to bring over since I have 13 empty bins. |

| Never? |

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | The US never had more than 2 years of below trendline yields.......until 2012. Records are made to be broken. It feels like a drought, looks like a drought, must be a drought. |

North Central Illinois | I'm usually in your corner regarding discussions on this board but this time I think your caboose has slipped off the track. Over 60% of the country is in serious drought. We have zero subsoil moisture in my area where by comparison a year ago we did have subsoil moisture. We raised a little better than half a crop this year despite intense heat and not a lot of rain. Our subsoil moisture carried the crop. We don't have that this year. I have never been one to kill off a crop five months before we plant it, but I have to admit I am worried about 2013. Obviously things can change fairly quick, but right now I see no indication of it. Above normal temps and well below normal precip seem to be the rule. I hope you are right but at this point I am very skeptical. |

northwest tennessee | Yes this year is going to be different if things dont change. It will make last year look like a dream. |
| |
Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | +1. I see a worse situation around here. We have no subsoil moisture right now like we had last year. If we go into spring this way, little chance to have time to recharge. |

New Mexico | Later today when I get by a computer w a decent screen. |
| |
New Mexico | Situation even if everyone starts getting some h2o is likely to be spotty at best. plenty of areas need 5 to 10" of h2o to recover back to somewhat dry, then takes anothe 5 to 10" over summer for somewhat of a hopefully decent crop. deal is tight even w prayer looks 2 me like. |

N FLA | Yes, you mention a "big dry" potentially. I watched the "dust bowl" and they talked about the 1890s, 1930s, 1950s. This graph is a pretty good example. We need to be preparing that way anyhow. |
| |
New Mexico | In this for 12 yrs now in the sw. I just hope this is not one of those 11th and 13th century deals which lasted bout 60 years each and changed a bunch of things at the time. the 30's is a little dry comped to those. |

| WOW how much more can bullish be. Just when you think you have seen it all! |

North Central Illinois | Sorry, I don't understand what you are saying. |

west central illinois | + 1. I have a feeling sometimes after Tara posts, that he doesn't even operate a farm. Seems to me he is more of a grain buyer talking. |
